Nova Scotia Occupations in Demand is one of streams of Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) which select candidates from high-demand occupations to apply for a provincial nomination. After becoming a nominee, apply for Canadian permanent residency.

NSNP Occupations in Demand: List of NOC Codes for 2024

The list of occupations or NOC codes currently eligible for NSNP Occupations in Demand stream are:

  • NOC code 33102 – Nurse Aides
  • NOC code 65310 – Light duty cleaners
  • NOC code 73300 – Transport truck drivers
  • NOC code 73400 – Heavy equipment operators
  • NOC code 75110 – Construction trades helpers and labourers

Eligibility Criteria – Occupations in Demand Stream

The eligibility criteria to meet to qualify for a nomination through the Occupations in Demand stream are:

  • The applicant must have a full-time permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia employer under one of the occupations listed above. 
  • The applicant’s age must be between 21 – 55 years
  • In terms of educational qualifications, they need to have completed high school at least. 
  • They must have a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience. 
  • The candidate should prove their language skills in either English or French language. For this, they should have CLB Level 4 or equivalent. 
  • They must have necessary training, skills and/or required accreditation for the needed job. 
  • The applicant must meet financial requirements to fully settle in Nova Scotia. 

Nova Scotia Occupations in Demand Stream – Application Process

Follow the steps provided below to apply for a nomination through the NSNP Occupations in Demand:

Step 1 – Visit the official website of Nova Scotia and create an account on MyNS portal.

Step 2 – Upload the necessary documents and submit the application once you have filed it completely.

Step 3 – If NSNP approves your application, you must submit a completed PR application and pay the fee for it to IRCC.

Step 4 – While you are waiting for your PR application to be processed, you may request the province for a Letter of Support for a Work Permit. Using this letter, apply for a temporary work permit so you may work in Canada while your application is being processed.

Step 5 – Receive PR visa once your application is approved and once you arrive in the country, inform NSNP about the same within 30 days.
