Nova Scotia Skilled Worker Stream: Eligibility Criteria
An aspiring foreign skilled worker or an international student who recently graduated can apply for Nova Scotia Skilled Worker stream if they meet the following eligibility criteria.
- Their age is between 21 to 55 years
- Have a high school diploma (at least)
- They are financially capable of settling down in the province
- Have a non-seasonal, permanent job offer (work at least 30 hours a week)
- Are equipped with skills, training, and education to carry out the job offered
- Already have at least 1 year of work experience related to the job offered
- If the job offer is in NOC TEER category 4 or 5, the applicant must have been working with the same employer for 6 months beforehand
- Have scored CLB level 5 (job offer in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3), or CLB level 4 (job offer in NOC TEER 4 or 5)
NOTE: The NSNP withholds the right to withdraw your provincial nomination before you obtain a PR visa or arrive in Canada. They may do so in the following cases:
- You fail to meet any of these requirements after being nominated by the province
- Information you provided in the PR application is not correct
- You or your spouse/partner isn’t allowed to immigrate to the country
As the applicant, you can also withdraw your application for nomination and won’t even be charged with a penalty. But do so only when you know that you haven’t provided any false information or left out any other required details.
In case NSNP finds that you choose to withdraw the application and there’s false or missing information in your application, you will be charged with a penalty.
You may only withdraw your application before receiving the nomination certificate.
Skilled Worker Stream: Document Checklist

The application process of Nova Scotia Skilled Worker stream consists of two stages. Actually, whenever you are applying to immigrate to any Canadian province through the PNP pathway, you will need to go through 2 stages of the application process.

Once you have been nominated, apply for permanent residency through the following steps.
Step 1: Visit official website of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
Step 2: Sign in to IRCC portal
Step 3: Choose the “Immigrate to Canada” option
Step 4: Apply for PR using the PR portal
Step 5: Wait for IRCC’s decision
Step 6: Obtain Canada PR visa
Step 7: Arrive in Canada before the COPR expires

Nova Scotia Skilled Worker Stream: Processing Time
The Nova Scotia Skilled Worker stream nomination application is processed in about 6 months. Similar to any other application for nomination, Nova Scotia also takes about 6 months to process your nomination application.
Once you have received the nomination certificate, apply for permanent residency within a year or before 12 months are passed.
