Canada Immigration Programs For Skilled Workers

To immigrate to Canada, use any of the following skilled workers immigration programs.

  1. Express Entry 
  2. Caregiver
  3. Atlantic Immigration Program
  4. Quebec-Selected Skilled Workers
  5. Agri-Food Pilot
  6. Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot
  7. Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

1. Express Entry

Express Entry is the fastest Canada immigration program for skilled workers. IRCC aims to process permanent residency applications submitted through any of the Express Entry programs within 5 to 8 months. 

Under Express Entry, there are 3 programs that highly skilled and skilled workers can use to immigrate to Canada. These are:

2. Caregiver

The Caregiver program works for skilled workers with caregiving experience. Currently, there’s no active caregiver immigration program available, however, IRCC is set to launch new pilot programs in place of them soon. 

3. Atlantic Immigration Program

The Atlantic Immigration Program lets you settle down in one of the Atlantic provinces of Canada, if you meet the language requirements, meet financial requirements, and have a valid job offer to work in one of the following provinces:

  • Nova Scotia
  • New Brunswick
  • Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Prince Edward Island

4. Quebec-Selected Skilled Workers

The Quebec-Selected Skilled Workers or Regular Skilled Worker Program lets you immigrate to Quebec. You first need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) and the scoring system of Quebec (Arrima) will give you a particular score based on the information provided by you in the EOI. 

Another calculator will score you to find whether or not you qualify for Canada PR. If you meet the eligibility criteria and receive an invite in the Quebec draws, you can submit a PR application to IRCC. 

5. Agri-Food Pilot

The Agri-Food Pilot lets agricultural workers immigrate to Canada if they meet the eligibility criteria and their occupation is one of the selected ones under the Agri-food pilot program. You must have a job offer, which needs to be non-seasonal, in one of the listed occupations. 

6. Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot

The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) assists aspiring skilled workers to move to the rural side of Canada, if they are able to secure a job offer from one of the participating communities.

Since this is a pilot program, RNIP will soon be expiring. However, IRCC has decided to launch a permanent program so that more workers can immigrate to the rural side of Canada.

7. Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

Each of Canada’s provinces and territories have their own Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) that calls for eligible workers, international students and entrepreneurs to move there.
