Skilled Trade Work Experience
To be eligible for FSTP, you must fulfill the following criteria:
- Minimum 2 years of work experience (full-time)
or
- Equivalent part-time skilled trade experience in last 5 years
- Skilled trade work experience under federal skilled trades program list occupations:

Language Proficiency
You need to meet language requirements (CLB 4- Reading & Writing; CLB 5- Speaking & Listening)under the Federal Skilled Trades Program in English or French based on these skills:
- Writing
- Reading
- Listening
- Speaking
To demonstrate your language skills, you need to appear for an English language test through the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP), or Pearson Test of English Core (PTE Core) for English. Or the Test d’Evaluation de Francais (TEF) or Test de Connaissance du Français (TCF) for French (second official language of Canada).
The candidate is required to score above the minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) points in order to be found eligible for the Federal Skilled Trades immigration program.

To be eligible for FSTP, you must have:
- Valid full-time job offer for minimum 1 year or
- Qualification certification in skilled trade by Canadian provincial, territorial or federal authority

Education
Education is not a mandatory requirement but it adds to your advantage if:
- You attended school in Canada (secondary & post-secondary institution), or
- You have foreign education from reputed organization and ECA report
Admissibility
To be eligible for FSTP, you must be admissible to Canada.
Being inadmissible means you are not allowed to enter Canada, according to the Canadian immigration law. But in case of any valid reason, authorities might give you a temporary resident permit.
