Through the PEI Express Entry stream, an applicant with a valid Express Entry profile and intentions to settle down in PEI can apply for a nomination. With a nomination, the applicant will receive additional 600 CRS points and increase their chances of being invited in an Express Entry draw

Once they receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a draw, apply for Canada PR within 60 days. And that’s how they can gain permanent residency through the PEI Express Entry stream.

PEI Express Entry Stream: Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the PEI Express Entry stream, meet the following criteria. There are not many requirements since this is an Express Entry linked PNP stream. 

  1. Create an Express Entry profile which must be placed in the Express Entry pool 
  2. Candidate must be eligible for at least one of the Express Entry programs

If an applicant is already employed in the province and is applying through the PEI Express Entry stream, their application will be prioritized. In case they are working for a PEI employer, they must have gained at least 9 months of continuous work experience. This same employer must support them throughout their immigration journey. Further, they also need to have at least 4 months left on their work permit at the time of submitting an EOI.

Documents Required for PEI Express Entry Stream

You need the following documents to qualify for the PEI Express Entry stream. These documents must either be in English or French. However, if your documents are in another language, contact a verified translator and get them all translated. Then, at the time of applying, upload a copy of the translated documents and a copy of the original document. 

NOTE: Upload only theose documents that fit your circumstances.

  • Passport pages
  • Language test results 
  • Academic credentials
  • Employment reference letters
  • Proof of financial resources
  • Marriage certificate
  • Birth certificate
  • Adoption papers
  • Divorce certificate
  • Death certificate
  • If you have a family member living in PEI, provide a proof of that
  • Copy of previous temporary residency documents (if any)

PEI PNP may ask you to submit additional documents. You must comply with this requirement so that your application can be processed. 

Overall Application Process of PEI Express Entry Stream

Follow these steps to apply for a nomination through the PEI Express Entry stream:

  1. Qualify for the PEI Express Entry stream as well as for one of the federal Express Entry streams
  2. The applicant has to create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile and send it to the PEI PNP.
  3. The Prince Edward Island provincial nominee program will review the EOI profile and may approve it
  4. If selected, you will receive an email inviting you to apply to the PEI Express Entry stream for a nomination. 
  5. For this, you need to complete and submit a nomination application within 60 days. If you fail to do so before the expiry of your ITA, you will have to start the process again, e.i., create a new profile.
  6. For a nomination application, pay CAN $300 and submit it.
  7. If the PEI PNP approves your application, you are free to apply for residency. Keep in mind that the nomination certification is only valid for the next 3 months. You must apply for PR within this time limit. 
  8. Arrive in Prince Edward Island and start establishing your life in the province.
