Alberta Launches Worker Expression of Interest System for Worker Streams

The highly anticipated new Alberta Expression of Interest System finally launched on 30th September 2024. The new EOI system is for AAIP’s skilled worker streams and candidates who want to get nominated by the province will need to submit a Worker Expression of Interest (EOI).

In short, if you want to get invited by AAIP for any one of the worker streams, submit a Worker Expression of Interest (EOI). At any stage of time, you must have only one EOI active in the EOI pool.

Similar to other EOIs, submitting a Worker EOI will not charge you any fees. Though the system began on 30 September, candidates do not need to hurry to submit a Worker Expression of Interest (EOI). This is because Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has announced that it will not be conducting any new draws before mid or late October 2024.

How will the Worker Expression of Interest Work?

The new system of Worker Expression of Interest (EOI) will work just like other provinces’ Expression of Interest (EOI) systems work. Aspiring candidates who wish to be nominated by the provincial or territorial government will show their eligibility and eagerness to be nominated by submitting an EOI.

An EOI is not an application, but rather an indication that you wish to be nominated and that you meet the stream’s eligibility criteria. While creating an EOI, the system asks the individual several questions regarding their age, education, language skills, work experience, etc.

Similarly, when you are creating a Worker Expression of Interest (EOI), the candidate has to self-declare information. After completing their EOI, the candidate will receive an EOI point out of 100.

When a new Alberta PNP draw is held, candidates will be invited based on their EOI score and the labour market needs.
