Alberta New Immigration Program is for Healthcare Workers

In the recently released Alberta PNP draws, we saw that the province invited healthcare professionals using a not-so-long-ago-launched immigration pathway. Alberta’s new immigration program is giving benefits to healthcare professionals as it will be inviting more and more professionals using the same.

It seems as if the province is in need of more people in the healthcare sector of the province, and hence the need to add a new immigration pathway rose. But, it’s not just that more healthcare workers from around the globe would be able to work in Alberta, one of the most beautiful provinces of Canada, but they would also be able to take advantage of the gorgeous natural views present there, be able to earn more, enjoy all the employment rights, etc.

New Immigration Pathway of Alberta- Dedicated Healthcare Pathway 

As you now have come to know, the new program that would be helping healthcare workers globally is known as Dedicated Healthcare Pathway. The province is set to allot around 30% or 1,462 of Express Entry allocations of 2023 to this particular program. This means that more and more workers in the healthcare industry will have an opportunity to immigrate to Canada.

Who’s Eligible? 

These healthcare professionals would first need to be eligible to apply under this program. They need to have a valid employment offer from a Canadian employer from Alberta. Along with this, the candidate must prove that they meet the minimum requirements set by the province in order to be able to practice their work in Canada. 

Under this program, workers from several job roles would be able to apply, and not just doctors. If your primary occupation is in National Occupational Classification, then you are likely to be eligible.  Who could apply under this program? Look below to find out! 

  • Registered Nurses
  • Physiotherapists
  • Licensed Practical Nurses
  • Physicians
  • Nurse Practitioners
  • Psychologists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Physician Assistants
  • Clinical Social Workers 

These professionals may be able to apply under the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway. 

Minimum Requirements

The  minimum requirements that a candidate must meet in order to apply for Alberta’s immigration are:- 

  • Have an active Express Entry profile in the Express Entry pool
  • Primary occupation should be listed in the National Occupational Classification
  • Intention to settle down and work in Alberta
  • Minimum CRS score of 300
  • Meet at least one of the eligibility criteria of a minimum of one federal immigration programs: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Program, Federal Skilled Worker Program

These are some of the main requirements that a candidate must meet. If they don’t, then they may not be able to apply for permanent residency in Alberta.
