Analysis of the Draw

As we already know that Canada is trying to fill up its labor force. Most of the industries and sectors in Canada are asking for more people to get hired. This is especially true in the case of the healthcare industry of Canada which is in need of hiring around 144,500 workers. So, the Government is coming up with ways to invite more workers, but from selected occupations only.

Hence, Express Entry Category-based draws were launched as a way to invite candidates from particular work industries such as Healthcare, STEM, Transport, Trades, and Agriculture, etc. These are the industries which are in need of most workers.

Recently, the first round of Express Entry Category-based draws were held on 28th June, 2023 and it was for healthcare workers. 500 candidates from the Healthcare Occupations were selected whose CRS rank was 476 or above.

Moreover, the second round of Express Entry Category-based draws came out yesterday, but it was the first one for STEM workers. It issued a total of 500 invitations to eligible candidates from STEM occupations only.

As you can see, it’s not only the federal immigration pathway of Canada that is inviting workers specifically from healthcare and tech, but also the provincial draws, as British Columbia also issued invitations to healthcare and tech occupations.
