Before applying for a visitor visa or a temporary resident visa, you must keep the following documents ready.
- National Identity Document – This must include your photograph, nationality, date of birth, date of issue and expiry, and document number.
- Copy of a valid passport – regular, official, as well as diplomatic passports are acceptable. Provide a clear and colored copy of the page that includes your date of birth and nationality. You will also need to submit copies of passport pages that have any previous visas, stamps, or markings.
- Paperwork for travel history – You might be asked to provide at least one of the following
- Previous passports and visas (expired or valid) in the last ten years

How to Apply for a Canada tourist visa from India?
Once you have gathered all the necessary documents, it is time to begin your visitor visa application. Below is an overview of the complete process.
STEP 1- Create an account with IRCC
STEP 2- Initiate a Visitor visa application. You must complete and submit your application within 60 days of starting it.
STEP 3- Complete all the sections of the application –
- Purpose – This section will require information about the reason you need a visitor visa.
- Personal Details section will need data about your name, birth date, gender, passport, country of residence, home address, mailing address, any alternate name or nicknames, etc. You will also need to inform about any previous passport and visa records in the past 10 years.
- Application section will ask for information related to biometrics and finances.
- Activities section requires you to give information about education and work. You will need to list your employment and travel history in the last 10 years.
- Security Questions ask for Information related to criminal history, if any.
- Medical History – You will also be asked to answer questions about your medical history and any previous medical exams submitted to IRCC.
- Family Information – Add all information about your family members who will accompany you (if applicable). You will also need to provide information about your marital status, parents, and children (if any)
- Contact Information – This section will require your email address and telephone number.
- Documents – Upload all the documents to support the information provided in all the previous sections.
- Fee – This is towards the end of your application and is nearly the final step for your visitor visa application. The application fee for a Canadian tourist or visitor visa from India is $100.
STEP 4- Submit the completed application. Ensure that all your details are correct and updated. Upload all documents that might help the authorities to assess your application.
STEP 5– After application submission, IRCC might ask you to attend a visa interview in India. They might also request a medical exam and a Police Clearance Certificate. If you have never given biometrics in the past 10 years, you will receive an instruction letter to submit it to IRCC.
