IRCC launched a new Canada work permit stream, and it does not require an LMIA. The Innovation Stream employer-specific work permit only requires you to have a job offer from one of the participating employers in the Global Hypergrowth Project (GHP) and you may work in Canada for the next 2 years. 

The job offer must be in an occupation in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3, but those with an employment contract in NOC TEER 0 or 1 will enjoy faster application processing time.

About The Innovation Stream Work Permit

The Innovation Stream Work Permit is processed under the International Mobility Project (IMP) and it will allow a handful of Canadian employers participating in the Global Hypergrowth Project (GHP) to employ highly skilled international workers. The latest stream announced for Canada work permit will allow applicants to work in the country for 2 years for a specific employer.

The participating employers in the Global Hypergrowth Project (GHP) are:

  2. AlayaCare
  3. CellCarta
  4. Clarius
  5. Clio
  6. Duchesnay Pharmaceutical Group
  7. Lightspeed
  8. Vive

Who can apply to the Innovation Stream Work Permit?

Innovation Stream Work Permit eligibility requirements are provided below. 

  • Receive a job offer from a participating employers (as mentioned above)
  • Job offer must be in NOC TERR 0, 1, 2, or 3
  • Meet the work experience and education requirements of the NOC TEER of which you have the job offer 

Is Innovation Stream Work Permit ESWP or Open work permit?

Innovation Stream Work Permit is Employer-Specific Work Permit (ESWP). This means, you will only be eligible to work for the same employer throughout the stay. On the work permit document, the following information will be mentioned. 

  • The name of the employer you will work for
  • The time period for which you can work in Canada
  • The location where you will work (this one is not mandatory)
