On 18th Sept, Canada’s Immigration Minister, Marc Miller, announced that the first round of Express Entry category based selection draw will be held this week.
The aim of this upcoming round of draw would be to invite specialized workers in the field of transportation. But the category also includes skilled workers such as truck drivers, aircraft assembly workers, pilots, etc. The need for workers in such occupations reflect the labor shortage, difficulty to meet consumer needs, and manage systems that the industries must have been facing due to less number of workers available to do the jobs.
Moreover, we get to understand that if someone is looking for aviation jobs in Canada they might be able to grab one, as employers across the country are actively hiring.
The New System of Express Entry: Is it beneficial for Canada?
On 31st May, IRCC announced the new system of Express Entry, Category-based Selection, which will focus on inviting workers from specific occupations or based on their French language skills only.
For 2023, the chosen categories from which candidates will be invited are:
- French-language proficiency
- Healthcare Occupations
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) occupations
- Trade occupations
- Transport occupations
- Agriculture and agri-food occupations
These categories are chosen specifically to meet the labour demands of those particular industries. These category based Express Entry draws will change the labour needs of the labour market.
Further, these are important sectors of the country, and hence it is essential to meet their workforce targets so they could contribute to the economy’s growth.
