Employment in Canada rose by 0.5 percentage points (104,000+ jobs), and the Unemployment rate dropped by 5.0% (-0.1% month-over-month). According to the latest Labour Force Survey (December 2022). According to the Labour Force Survey, it reveals that the continuous rise in the average hourly wages of employees has remained at more than 5% for seven consecutive months and is up 5.1% as compared to December 2021.

Maximum Employment rise for youth
The employment increase in youth and people aged 55 and older. In Age 15 to 24, the employment rose by 69,000 (+2.7%) in December. Also, there is a slight increase in full-time work among non-students as well as increases in part-time work among students. The employment among young men (+36,000; +2.88%) in December and continues to help boost the employment rate to 57.8%.
In December, the employment rate increased over the ages 55 and older by 31,000. The rate increases among people who are aged 55 and older is (34.6%), a bit change as compared to December 2021.
High rise of employment for core-aged women
According to the 3 monthly increase, the employment rate for people in the core working ages of 25 to 54 was slightly changed in December as compared to 12 months earlier. We see a (+107,000; +1.6%) rise in employment for core-aged men and a (+139,000; +2.3%) rise in employment for core-aged women.
Bumper job openings in Canada for 6 Provinces
According to the Labour Force Survey (December 2022), Employment increased in 6 different provinces which are: Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Saskatchewan.
- Ontario: Ontario employment rose by (+0.5%) in December, which includes 42,000 jobs. And the unemployment rate Dropped down to 5.35%.
- Alberta: The Alberta employment rose by (+1.0%) in December, which includes 25,000 jobs. But the unemployment rate remains the same at 5.8%.
- British Columbia: British Columbia employment rose by 0.65 which includes 17,000 jobs. And the unemployment rate is steady at 4.2%
- Manitoba: Manitoba employment rose by 1% in December, producing 7,000 jobs. And the unemployment rate is still at 4.4% for the month
- Saskatchewan: Saskatchewan employment increased by (+0.7%) in December, producing 4,200 jobs. And the unemployment rate was changed at 4.1%.
- Newfoundland and Labrador: In the province, the employment rate rose by 3.0% in December 2022. And the unemployment rate is the highest of all time across all 10 provinces (10.1%).
