The Canada Parents and Grandparents Program 2023 lets the permanent residents or Canadian citizens sponsor their parents and grandparents so they could also come to Canada. Who’s eligible to Sponsor?
There are some eligibility requirements that the sponsor needs to fulfill. These are:-
- They need to be either 18 years of age or older than that.
- The sponsor must be a permanent resident/citizen. They could also be a registered Indian under the Canadian Indian Act.
- They need to submit a proof of income to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). They need to exceed the minimum necessary income level (MNI) for PGP.
- The sponsor must be living in Canada.
- They must sign an undertaking that states they would be financially supporting the sponsored individual for 20 years. Further, the sponsor would be repaying any and all social assistance benefits to the sponsored family member for that 20 years.
Super Visa
A super visa basically lets the parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens/permanent residents to come to Canada. There’s no lottery system for this visa and hence, one can apply for it anytime. Another speciality of this visa is that it allows the parents/grandparents to enter Canada multiple times for up to 10 years.
In the duration of these 10 years, they don’t need to renew their visa status. But they can apply for an extension of another 7 seven years and stay in Canada as a visitor.
Who’s Eligible for a Super Visa?
The applicant of the super visa must fulfill these requirements:-
- They must not be inadmissible to Canada due to health or because of criminality
- The applicant should be a grandparent/parent of a permanent resident of Canadian citizen
- A signed letter that they have been invited to Canada. This letter should contain a promise of financial support, a list and number of all the people residing in the household of the sponsor.
- They must prove that they meet income requirements which Low-Income Cut Off (LICO) recognizes.
- They should also have a medical insurance of at least one year with a Canadian insurance firm.
