This is the latest news from Ontario quite important for the international student community. A huge change has been made to the OINP’s Employer Job Offer: International Student stream.
The change is basically in the eligibility requirement for candidates with one year college graduate certificates.
Latest Ontario News: Changes in eligibility requirement of 1-year college graduate certificate
Students now require an Ontario College Graduate Certificate to be eligible for OINP’s Employer Job Offer: International Student stream.
Basically, the eligibility criteria has expanded for candidates who have completed their one-year college program from Ontario.
Earlier on, students with a one-year certificate from an eligible institution were found eligible to apply for the stream. Also, the earlier requirement was based on if the admission program needed a completed degree.
Now, candidates can qualify if they have an Ontario College Graduate Certificate from any one-year college program.

This means, if you completed a one-year program from an Ontario college and received an Ontario College Graduate Certificate, you can apply for the International Student stream.
The change will basically help bring more applications under this stream. More and more international students will become eligible to study in Ontario.
The eligibility change came into effect on 1st January, 2024. Hence, it doesn’t affect any applications submitted before 1 Jan.
