Demand of Skilled Workers in Canada’s Agriculture Sector
The Category based Express Entry draws could fulfill the demand for more skilled workers in Canada’s Agriculture sector. The specialized draws may be the answer to get the required number of workers in the country.
The first round of draws for Agriculture occupations was conducted on 29th September, 2203. This draw sent invitations to 600 candidates and the CRS cut-off was 354 only.

According to the Canadian Agricultural Human Resource Council (CAHRC), by 2029, the agricultural industry of Canada will require about 123,000 more workers than Canada’s domestic labor force could provide.
Moreover, different reports on the retirement plans of workers leads to the conclusion that Canada should invite more than 30,000 workers in this industry for its growth and continued development. And even in upcoming years, Canada should continue calling workers in this industry aggressively.
Thus, now it is clear why IRCC chose Agriculture and agri-food occupations as one the categories in the Express Entry draw.
Category-based Express Entry Draws
Back in May, IRCC announced the Category based draws that will focus on inviting skilled workers in certain categories. For 2023, IRCC chose these categories- Healthcare, STEM, French Language Proficiency, Transport, Trade, and Agriculture and agri-food.
Candidates will be selected on the basis of either their occupation or their French language proficiency. Also, these categories will change according to the labor market needs of Canada.
Hence, for those looking for employment in the agriculture sector of Canada, this might be a good time. Canada has been conducting draws frequently and who knows, maybe you will also receive an ITA?
