How to Apply for a Study Permit in Canada?
Here are the 3 steps by which you can apply for a Canada study permit.
Step 1 – Create an IRCC Account
Step 2 – Fill Out the Form & Provide the Required Information
Step 3 – Pay the Fee and Submit the Form
Step 1 – Create an Account with the IRCC
If this is your first time applying for any Canada visa or permit, you must create an account with the IRCC. The IRCC portal is used by all kinds of Canada visa applicants, whether temporary or permanent.
You can create an account using the GCKey or Sign-In Partner option. Once you sign in to the account, you will be asked to choose which kind of visa application you are applying for.
After beginning the application, you have till 60 days or 2 months to submit a completed version of it.
Step 2 – Fill Out the Form & Provide the Required Information
The IRCC portal will ask some questions which you need to answer and upload the necessary documents. The documents required are:
- Passport/travel document
- Acceptance letter from a DLI
- A provincial attestation letter (PAL), if you are not exempt from it
- Proof of sufficient funds
- Other additional documents that depend on your case
Step 3 – Pay the Fee and Submit the Form
In the last step of your question of how to apply for a Canada study permit, pay the study permit application fee, once you are done completing it. This means, you must have provided all the information and uploaded the required documents before coming on to the fee section.
Along with the Canada study permit fee of CAN$150, you also need to pay for biometrics, medical exam, police clearance certificate, language test results, and other documents.
And that’s it! Submit the study permit application and wait for IRCC’s decision on it. If IRCC approves your application, it will issue you a study visa or a visitor visa so you can enter Canada. This is because a study permit can only allow you to study in Canada, but not enter the country.
