Express Entry Hold its First ever Draw in 2023

Express Entry held its First 237th Draw on 11th of January 2023, the unexpected rise in both the Invitation to Apply and CRS cut-off. 5500 Invitation to Apply were issued and total CRS cut-off is 507. The Express Entry Draw was held for all the programs.

Express Entry Holds only 23 Draw Last Year

Express Entry held its First Draw of 2023, EE was not conducting any draw since November 23, 2022. In 2022, Express Entry holds only 24 Draw, which is the very lowest in 2022. From July 06 to November 23, Express Entry Hold Draws for All the Program i.e Federal Skilled worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class. All these programs are operated under the Express Entry system.

From January 5 to June 22, Express entry holds Draws for Provincial Nominee Program (PNPs). Express Entry Draws were Paused for all the programs for over 18 months starting in December 2020, it was paused due the Backlog application caused by covid 19 related travel restrictions. The ITAs were only issued for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Provincial Nominee Programs, However in September 2021, ITAs for CEC were also paused by IRCC. For All programs, Total ITAs were issued as 35,750 in 2022.

Reason Behind Conducting lowest draw in 2022

Applicants who are eligible to enter in the Express Entry Pool have been waiting for their nomination for a very long time and After waiting for ages, Express Entry holds its 237th Draw. So now we are going to discuss why Express Entry conducted the lowest Draw in 2022. The reasons of conducting lowest Express Entry Draw are as follows:

The first reason is a Technical glitch in Express Entry Draw which was reported by CIC. This was the major reason for conducting lowest draws in 2022.
The second reason is the change in NOC Codes that is considered as the reason behind the Technical glitch.

Establishing the New changes in Express Entry in 2023

In 2023 the IRCC Minister is going to make some changes in Express Entry. IRCC started using new authorities to hold Express Entry Draws in which candidates are invited on the basis of specific attributes rather than overall CRS score. This change is based on Bill C-19, which says, the IRCC Minister has total authority to invite candidates with any in-demand skills or abilities.
