You May be Able to Take the Canada Citizenship Oath From Your Home
This amendment will make it really easy to take the Canada citizenship oath. Individuals would be able to do so with just a click from the comfort of their homes. Traditionally, an authorized individual holds a ceremony for the Canada citizenship process. However, this amendment would change everything.

Knowing the Canada Citizenship Oath

In the process of becoming an actual Canadian citizen, taking or swearing an oath is a legal requirement. It has been a legal obligation to do so since 1947. Those who apply for the Canada citizenship application, take this oath in order to follow the rules of the country. The new applicant takes this oath formally in front of a citizenship judge in person or at a virtual ceremony.

During working hours or on weekends, this ceremony is scheduled, usually. According to the immigration department, the timing of the ceremony forces many new citizens to take time off of work. And, employers don’t pay for this time taken off.

According to the IRCC, or the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, this amendment will allow the process of swearing a citizenship oath to be flexible. From June 2023, future Canadian citizens will have the option to take the oath on their own. Now, isn’t that amazing news?!

To take the oath, the client would only need to go online. No need to fret, the process will be completely secure. The oath would allow citizens to only sign a written attestation on-line, and they wouldn’t even need a witness to be present at the time.

This flexibility is sure to improve client service. But more importantly, the amendment is a way to change the system. Earlier, it would take the application more than 24 months to process. However, after the implementation of amendments, the time to process the application would be reduced to 21 months only.
