If you wish to work as a Nova Scotia nurse, then this good news is for you! Nova Scotia is calling for nurses from different countries to come and work there. However, if you want to go to Canada, then you must have a visa. Prepare to pass a Canada visa interview and earn your chance to work there!

What is the good news for nurses?

The NSCN or the Nova Scotia College of Nursing recently announced that a new registration and licensing process is in the way. According to NSCN, this approach will soon come into effect. This approach will be fast and something never done before.

This press release summed up that if you are a nurse who has a license from Canada, India, the U.S., the Philippines, Nigeria, New Zealand, Australia, or the United Kingdom, then these nurses can get a license in Nova Scotia after simply passing an entrance examination. Moreover, other than passing the national entrance exam, nurses do not need any more requirements for a license.

Most Nurses Come from these Countries

According to the Nova Scotia College of Nursing, most of the nurses come from seven specific countries. These nations are:

  1. India
  2. United Kingdom
  3. Nigeria
  4. New Zealand
  5. Philippines
  6. United States
  7. Australia

The New Nursing Application Reduction Time

In the press release, NSCN mentioned that the recent approach announced will help in reducing the application process timing. This means nurses would get licenses faster. Furthermore, this approach will come into effect from 29th March, 2023.

As for the international nurses, the approach will come into effect from 1st of May.

Many are hoping that this change will further help in reducing the nurses shortages across the province of Nova Scotia.

According to the NSCN, the Department of Health and Wellness along with the provincial government’s Nursing Strategy, this new strategy could be a big hit.

What’s more is that, on this news, the Minister of Health and Wellness, Michelle Thompson, said that the province is, indeed, in the need of many nurses. Apart from inviting more healthcare professionals, Nova Scotia also needs to work in a way that nurses could build their lives in the province easily.
