What are the Job Duties of a Financial Officer? 

Financial Investigators: 

  • The job of a financial investigator is to conduct investigations on possible unethical conduct or breaches of securities or commodity future laws. These unethical conducts could be done by persons or companies that are used to trading in securities and commodity futures or that provide related services. 

Trust Officers: 

  • Trust officers have to look over estate, personal, corporate, charitable, and other kinds of trusts. 
  • They also direct trust account investments, receive, and then record investment income as well as disburse trust funds. 

Financial Examiners and Inspectors: 

  • Financial Examiners and Inspectors have to review and then examine banks, credit unions, trust companies, credit companies, caisses populaires, insurance companies, real estate companies, securities brokers, pension funds, and other financial services as well as institutes. They do so to make sure that government legislations and regulations are complied. 

Financial Underwriters: 

  • Financial Underwriters have to analyze client requirements and requests so that they can assess all the risks and details of bonds, stocks, mortgages, and other financial solutions.

  • A candidate should have training which is offered by financial institutes and organizations. Some financial institutes are Institute of Canadian Bankers, Canadian Securities Institute, Investment Funds Institute, CFA Institute, Trust Companies Institute of Canada, etc. 
  • Financial examiners and inspectors should have an identifiable accounting designation. 
  • A mortgage broker needs a mortgage broker license in Nova Scotia, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, British Columbia, Alberta, Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec, and New Brunswick.
