The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has just announced that the Super Visa applicants can now pay their medical insurance in monthly Installments. In Canada, previously candidates have been allowed to pay for insurance in monthly installments after the announcement in August by IRCC. The average payments for a 65 year old is 1,500 CAD and higher for older individuals.

Paying installments on a monthly basis can make it much easier for families to reunite in Canada. Now Applicants can break it down into smaller payments rather than paying huge amounts for one time. Super Visa is for Parents and Grandparents to allow them to visit Canada, and can stay for 5 years at a time. Candidates must have private medical insurance to be eligible for the Super Visa.   • Private medical Insurance should cover the applicant’s health care, hospitalization, and repatriation.
  • It should provides a minimum of $100,000 emergency coverage
  • And it should be valid for a minimum of 1 year from the date of entry into Canada and is available upon review by a border services officer upon request during re-entry into Canada.

What is a super visa in Canada?

Super Visa is for Parents and Grandparents and it’s an alternative to PGP, it allows Permanent Residence and Canadian Citizen to bring their loved ones (Parents and Grandparents) to Canada for up to 5 consecutive years without renewing their visitor visa status. Super visa candidates are able to enter Canada for multiple times up to 10 years.

IRCC have limited amounts of seats available because of the PGP popularity. The government of Canada holds lotteries to know who will be able to apply for the program. But for Super Visas, there is no lottery system, it takes a few months to process the super visa applications. PGP can take years to process the application.

Eligibility for the Super Visa

To be eligible for super visa, candidates must have
  • be a parent or grandparent of Permanent Residence and Canadian Citizen.
  • Must have a signature on the letter from your son and daughter inviting you to Canada.
  • Must provide the required documents that will prove the child or grandchild needs the Low-Income Cut off (LICO).
  • Must have the proof of parental relationship between the sponsor and Parents and Grandparents.
  • Must have proof of private medical insurance coverage.
