Second Express Entry Draw in one day – minimum CRS score dropped to 464

Second Express Entry Draw in one day – minimum CRS score dropped to 464

A second Express Entry Draw was held on Thursday, 9 April at which 3,294 invitations were issued to candidates in the Canadian Experience Class with a CRS score of 464 or above.

The lowest minimum CRS score was recoded since October 2019 in this second draw held within a day. The draw today was the fourth consecutive Express Entry program-specific draw and the second one in less than one month was specifically tailored to target candidates in the Canadian Experience Class, which is open to foreign nationals with a minimum of one year of work experience in Canada, among other requirements.

Earlier today, Canada welcomed 606 Express Entry Provincial nominee program candidates for Canadian permanent residency

Canada’s primary source of foreign skilled workers is the Express Entry system. In addition to entering the Express entry pool, qualifying candidates earn, among other things, a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on their age, education and skills in English or French. The highest scoring candidates are then invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada through frequent draws from the pool.

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC) implemented a law of tie break at today’s draw; until 4 January 2020 at 12:16:45 UTC candidates had to register their profiles. This implies that all applicants who have CRS scores with 464 or above, and had their profiles in the Express Entry pool – received an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residency.

Despite the fact that specific measures have been placed in order to tackle the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, IRCC continues to conduct frequently scheduled Express Entry rounds of invitations.

In 2019 Canada welcomed 341,000 immigrants in total. It is expecting 341,000 immigrant admissions in 2020, and further 351,000 in 2021, and another 361,000 in 2022.
