Express Entry Category draw for Healthcare Workers 1500 ITA

Express Entry category draw for healthcare workers issued 1500 ITA on 6th July, 2023. Also, the CRS cut-off was only 463. The Canadian Immigration Minister along with the Canadian Health Minister made this announcement of draws already last week. When the first Express Entry Category-based draws came out on 28 June IRCC Minister then and there made an announcement that on 6 July there will be another round of such draws and 1,500 workers from the healthcare occupation will be invited. 

Healthcare industry in Canada is facing the biggest impact of labor shortage. Hence, IRCC has invited workers from the healthcare industry once again. Once you receive an invitation via Express Entry Category-based rounds of draw, you would then be able to apply directly for permanent residency in Canada. No need to go through the hassle of acquiring a Canadian work visa or anything else.

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada conducted the second round of draws of Express Entry Category-based selection. This time, the immigration authority of Canada decided to focus on inviting candidates from the healthcare occupations only. And the reason is, the Canadian healthcare sector is in serious need of more workers. Statistics Canada shows that around 144,500 job positions are vacant in the healthcare industry as of March, 2023. 

Hence, the need for healthcare professionals has prompted IRCC to hold regular draws and invite professionals to work in Canada. 

Let’s now take a look at the eligibility criteria for healthcare professionals as per the Express Entry category-based selection draws. 

Eligibility Criteria for Healthcare Professionals under Express Entry Category-based Selection

Eligible healthcare candidates must:

  • They should meet all the instructions of that round of draws
  • Have at least 6 months of continuous work experience out of the last 3 years in a single occupation out of eligible healthcare occupations

On what basis is IRCC selecting eligible candidates? 

Well, since the aim of category-based selection is to target candidates based on their occupation so as to fulfill the labor market needs, candidates are simply chosen based on the occupation they belong to. 

Moreover, since Canada is trying to increase the number of French speakers in the country, candidates are also chosen based on their level of French speaking ability. 

But mostly if the candidate meets the identified economic goal, they are likely eligible for these draws. 

Further eligibility criteria requires a candidate:

  • To have work experience in a particular occupation
  • They should be able to communicate in the specific official language
  • Also, they must fulfill education requirements

Which candidates are eligible?

  • They first of all need to meet all the minimum requirements of Express Entry. 
  • Also, every round of invitations issues instructions to ITA holders of that round, and candidates need to meet those requirements as well to become eligible. 

Once a candidate receives an invitation, they are invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence. In this round of draws, 1,500 healthcare professionals from all over the world have received a chance to apply for Canada PR. Once they receive PR, they can then start working in Canada and helping the healthcare sector grow.
