In the Latest news Canada, on January 23,2023 Sturgeon falls, Ontario. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada Minister, The Honourable Sean Fraser, Marie-France Lalonde Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister and Marc G. Serre, Parliamentary Secretary to the minister of official languages, announced that Canada achieved the legitimate target with 4.4% of French-speaking immigrants outside Quebec in 2022. Not only francophones are welcome to Canada but Indians too. But the question is how is life in Canada for Indian Immigrants. The answer is clear: both are treated equally and they contributed equally to the economy of Canada.

Canada has always welcomed newcomers to their Country and immigration is a core value in Canada and it reflects the cultural mosaic that builds our country’s identity. This contribution of French in Canada will also be enhancing the country’s identity as well as enhancing the economy.

3.02% of Long jump since 2006

Previously, more than 16,300 new immigrants have settled in francophone minority communities across Canada. In 2006, the number of French speaking residents outside Quebec was just over 2,500. Between 2006 and 2022 (from 1.38% to 4.4%), it represented a long jump of 3.02% and recorded its largest number of french speaking immigrants and welcomed since the data began to be recorded. 

Francophone Newcomers are going to contribute to the development of those communities outside Quebec and to diversify the country’s cultural and linguistic landscape. Newcomers also contribute to strengthening the economy of the communities in which they have settled.

Canada always shows their contribution towards the vitality of francophone minority communities. This accomplishment means that those newcomers who are making a greater contribution to promoting the French in Canada and addressing the Canada shortage throughout the country. The target that Canada acchied will never be possible without close collaboration with the provinces and territories and as well as with Francophone stakeholders.

Statement from Officials

The Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of IRCC said “Today, we are showing that Francophone immigration is at the heart of the values that make Canada rich, both culturally and through the distinct character of its 2 official languages. We have achieved our target. It is a significant milestone and reflects the importance and contribution of French-speaking immigrants to the vitality and development of Francophone communities outside Quebec. We will continue to welcome French-speaking immigrants to ensure the viability of these key communities that are helping to shape the future of our country.”

The Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official languages said “Francophone immigration plays a key role in restoring the demographic weight of Francophone minority communities, in addition to contributing closely to the economic development of our country. Today’s announcement is a step in the right direction and will give us the momentum we need to adopt a robust new Francophone immigration policy, presented in Bill C-13, with objectives, targets and specific indicators that will ensure the sustainability of the French language.”

Marie-France Lalonde, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of IRCC said “Newcomers are essential to the development and vitality of Francophone communities. This is especially true in minority communities. Canada has always been a pioneer in its efforts to create more opportunities to help these communities prosper culturally and economically and, in doing so, increase their demographic weight.”
