Latest Express Entry draw invites yet another 3,900 candidates for Canadian permanent residency

Canada’s Express Entry System conducted a new invitation round on March 4.

In this round of invites were given to a total of 3900 candidates with minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement of 471. The cut-off score of 471 was one point higher than the previous draw of February 19, which witnessed a minimum score of 470. A couple of weeks ago, the Government of Canada had issued ITAs to 4,500 Express Entry candidates in the largest draw ever held.

The Express Entry System of Canada handles candidate’s applications for three of Canada’s most important economic immigration programs — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class.

Candidates are categorized based on the Express Entry’s Comprehensive Ranking System score that calculates the score using the CRS points calculator where it takes into account factors such as age, education, work experience, and English or French linguistic proficiency. A selection of the top candidates will obtain a permanent residency ITA by frequent draws from the pool, where the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) intends to process permanent residence applications within six months.

To reach this year’s ITA goal of 85,800 new permanent residents, it seems that the government has started to invite more applicants in each draw. The current draw is the fourth in 2020 and this year’s total of 18,700 ITAs.

The tie break was on the 4th of March at 06:02:57 UTC on 24 February 2020. In other terms, all applicants with CRS scores over 471, as well as those with scores above 471, who entered the profile before this date and time in the Express Entry pool earned an ITA.

In recent weeks, there have been several Express Entry-aligned provincial nominee streams Express Entry candidates who obtain a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points to their final CRS score and immediately move to the front of the ITA line. Such 600 points are particularly valuable to individuals with lower CRS scores who are yet to cut the Federal Express Entry draws.

Different provincial nominee streams connected to Express Entry do not consider the CRS score of a candidate or have CRS requirements below federal draws cut-offs. Express Entry-linked provincial nominee streams have welcomed candidates from Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Prince Edward Island and British Columbia to apply for a provincial nomination -over the past couple of weeks.
