Labour Shortage in Agriculture Sector: Express Entry Draw May Help
Launched back in May, these category-based draws are designed in a way to invite candidates from specific occupations only. The categories from which candidates would be invited are selected based on the labour market needs and other criterias.
For this year, IRCC has chosen six categories from which it will invite candidates. These categories are:
- Agriculture and agri-food occupations
- Healthcare occupations
- Transport occupations
- Trade occupations
- French-language proficiency
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) occupations
Previously, there have been several draws which sent out invitations to selective occupations only. If Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada decide to hold another Express Entry draws sooner and issue invitations in the Agriculture and Agri-food occupations category, there would be less labour shortage in this industry.
Inviting more workers in this sector means more growth economy wise as well, hence less food inflation.
