The very first draw in the month of April 2023 issued a significant number of ITAs (3500 lower), while the Comprehensive Ranking System or the CRS score increased by six points. Express Entry draw 246 was also the fourth consecutive all program draw that issued invitations to applicants belonging to one of the following federal programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
- Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
The Express Entry Pool
With the Express Entry draw 246, IRCC has already invited 41,059 eligible immigrants to apply for Canada PR through the Express Entry system in 2023. Currently, there are at least 56,092 Express Entry profiles in the pool with a CRS score between 451-500 points. Out of these, around 21,344 applicants have a CRS score between 471-480, while only 2,871 applicants fall in the CRS score range of 481-490. According to the data, the next Express Entry draw might see a lower CRS score. In the past there have been significantly large rounds of invitations with as much as 7000 ITAs getting issued and CRS cut-off being as low as 481. If IRCC conducts another surprise Express Entry draw this week, the CRS cut-off could plummet even lower than 480s.
As discussed and speculated above, this is the best time to create an Express Entry profile and be in the pool. IRCC has invited the largest number of applicants in the first quarter of the year 2023, and there are many chances of bigger draws with significantly lower CRS cut-off. Additionally, these draws might be the last few draws before the implementation of Bill C-19 changes Express Entry forever. Although Bill C-19 is being implemented to make Express Entry more responsive to the everchanging Canadian requirements for skilled labor, this is the best time to take advantage of the Express Entry system as we know it.
