“Canada to re-open its Skilled Immigration Programs from July 2022.”
As the world is limping back to normal from the COVID-19 wave, Canada has decided to re-open its “Canada Skilled Immigration Programmes” in July 2022. We all witnessed, its impact. Among the worst affected areas was international travel and the immigration process. Canada also paused its Express Entry immigration stream in December 2020.
But Canada is re-opening Express Entry in early July 2022. This means a golden opportunity for skilled workers all over the world. Though Canada has always been a country with a low population and a high need for immigrants, COVID-19 has further increased this need. Canada has an increasingly ageing population and a low birth rate. Also, the lockdown restrictions further deteriorated the condition.
The Canadian economy is picking up and the need for staff is surpassing what employers are able to hire. Therefore, Canada is resuming the Express Entry invitations to bring more and more skilled people into the country. The re-opening is both for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), paused in December 2020, and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), which was paused in September 2021. With the decreasing restrictions and increasing need for skilled workers in almost every sphere of society and economy, they are going to process a lot of applications from July 2022.

What is an express entry?
Canada is a huge land mass, with 10 provinces and 3 territories. Given the expanse of the area and the number of people immigrating to it, Canada has broadly divided its immigration programme into two levels:
- Federal immigration
- Provincial Nominee Programs
The Canadian government’s federal immigration takes place through Express Entry. It started in 2015 and since then, has been the most popular immigration stream for skilled workers who want to immigrate to Canada permanently.
