British Columbia issues 87 invitations in the latest Tech Pilot draw

87 immigration candidates with a job offer were invited by British Columbia in the technology sector of the province, to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residency on 23 June.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Tech Pilot draw held today under the Express Entry BC and Skills immigration categories – issued invitations to candidates.

Selected candidates from the subcategories of Skilled Worker and International Graduates required a provincial minimum score of 80. The June 23 draw saw the minimum score staying in the low 80s, as has been the case for Tech Pilot drawings since early May.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot is a fast-track visa pathway for tech workers and international students who are in demand. The pilot project launched in 2017 and was extended multiple times, most recently to June 2021. Candidates must be enrolled with one of B.C.’s existing provincial immigration streams and have a valid job offer of at least 12 months in one of the 29 eligible occupations of the Tech Pilot to be considered eligible for this program.

Candidates must first create a profile via the BC PNP online portal and enrol under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) to qualify for the categories Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC. Candidates are assessed and a score is given depending on criteria such as education level, work experience, English language abilities and employment location.

Express Entry candidates who secure a nomination from British Columbia can earn an extra 600 points towards their Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System – CRS score, and an Invitation to Apply (ITA) is essentially guaranteed in a forthcoming federal Express Entry draw.

Until now in June, B.C. Six draws have been held through its different PNP categories and streams and 729 candidates have been invited to apply for a provincial nomination. Candidates invited for the nomination have 30 calendar days to apply.
