British Columbia, in its latest Tech Pilot draw on May 26 invited 133 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residency.
Invitations were issued under the categories Express Entry BC (EEBC) – Skills Immigration to Skilled Worker and International Graduate Candidates. For the candidates in both groups the minimum required CRS score was 80.
The draw of may 26 saw the minimum score remain almost as low as the draw from B.C.’s May 12 Tech Pilot. The latest draw, though, saw 41 more ITAs issued than it did on May 12.
Under its pilot Tech, B.C. invited tech workers with a valid job offer to qualify for permanent residency in one of 29 in-demand technology occupations.
Candidates for EEBC should have profiles within both B.C. ‘s Federal Express Entry System and the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
Express Entry candidates which receive a provincial nomination earn an extra 600 points towards their score on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Under Express Entry, a provincial nominee is given the maximum CRS points and obtaining these 600 points effectively ensures that an immigration candidate can obtain an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residency.
The objective of the Tech Pilot is to further address B.C.’s tech sector ‘s labour market needs.
Candidates with Tech Pilot must get a job offer that is a minimum of one year. At the time the candidate submits their profile to B.C., there should also be at least 120 calendar days left in the candidate’s job tenure.
