Does OINP Accepts PTE Core for All Streams Now?

As of 30 January 2024, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has approved PTE Core test results for all applicants. This is in compliance with IRCC approving PTE Core results for immigration applications.

Haven’t taken an English language test yet? Consider the Pearson Test of English Core from Pearson Canada, Inc.

For which OINP streams is PTE Core valid?

Whichever OINP stream you choose for immigration, if the stream requires you to prove language skills, you now have the option to choose PTE Core as well. To claim additional OINP Expression of Interest (EOI) points, you may also take this particular test.

Further, as of 30 January 2024, PTE has become an additional test that potential immigrants need to take so that they can prove their English language proficiency.

I have not received an ITA, can I still take PTE?

In case you have not yet received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from an OINP draw, you have the option to take a PTE Core test and then update the results in your EOI. This way, you will be able to claim further OINP EOI points and increase your chances of receiving an ITA.

Who will be affected by this change?

All those applicants who have not yet received an ITA will be affected. Moreover, those who have already received an ITA or NOI before this announcement, will not be impacted.
