The latest draw from the Express Entry pool on December 11 issued 3,200 new Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residence. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) in the December 11 draw was recorded to be 472. At present, the Express Entry program manages three distinct skilled immigration categories – Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.
Through the frequent draws, a set number of highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply for permanent residency. The draws are held in every two weeks, which majorly involves candidates from the above mentioned Express Entry categories.
What are the factors responsible for the CRS score?
Factors such as age, education qualifications, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability – are majorly responsible for the final CRS Score. Although the Express Entry program does not require a valid job offer – but having a one, can help candidates receive additional CRS points. There are basically three reasons which determine the cut-off CRS score – number of candidates in the pool, interval between draws and number of ITAs issued. Larger draws result in a fairly low CRS score – whereas smaller side of the express entry draws produce a slightly elevated CRS cut-off score.
The Government of Canada conducts frequent draws for a fixed number of aspiring Express Entry candidates, and the required CRS score is calculated by the scale of the draw. In the case of the December 11 draw – candidates with a score of 472 or above, who submitted their Express Entry profile before December 6 (03:03:49 UTC) received an ITA.
However candidates with a CRS score below the cut-off level can increase their score by qualifying through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). With a provincial nomination in the Express Entry pool –candidates are given an additional 600 points to their final CRS score In the last several weeks – provinces including Ontario, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan and British Columbia have welcomed immigrating candidates through the Express Entry program.
Canada stands strong with 82,100 ITAs issued in 2019 so far in the new Express Entry draw The IRCC plans to surpass its ITA total of 89,800 invites in 2018, which will boost its draw volume. The IRCC often maintains Express Entry every two weeks and a greater percentage of ITAs is necessary for Canada to expand its admission targets for the next few years.
