The provincial government of British Columbia is changing its program operations to assist PNP candidates and employers who have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) aims to respond to inquiries, accept and process applications, evaluate final results, review post-nomination requests and conduct frequent draws via its Skills Immigration, Express Entry BC and Entrepreneur Streams.
92 immigration candidates invited for permanent residence
B.C. often conducts weekly Tech Pilot draws in which candidates with employment opportunities in 29 eligible occupations are invited to apply for a provincial nomination. The primary objective of the Tech Pilot, initiated in 2017, is to help B.C.’s tech industry recruit ICT workers to address job vacancies.
On 12th May, B.C. issued 92 Invitations via the new Tech Pilot draw. Invitations were given to candidates in both the Express Entry BC (EEBC) and Skills Immigration streams in the Skilled Worker and International Graduate programmes. The minimum CRS score required for candidates in both programs was 80, marking a 5-point decline compared to last week’s draw which had an 85-point cut-off score.
Draws PNP-specific Express Entry and draws PNP in B.C. along with other provinces such as Ontario, several tech immigration candidates were invited to apply for permanent resident status in Canada, which is due to the significance of the tech industry to the Canadian economy, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also, the pandemic has had a significant impact on some sectors and are more vulnerable to fluctuations in employment in B.C. ‘s economy. This has contributed to many jobs being temporarily removed from latest invitation rounds of the BC PNP.
All candidates that need assistance, experience delays in sending documentation or have trouble reaching certain deadlines for the program are encouraged to contact the BC PNP via email or can get in touch with authorized immigration consultants in India.
