Here’s an overview of the number of invitations issued for each program, alongside the minimum score cut-off according to the Expression of Interest (EOI) of the province:
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba— 332 invitations with a minimum score of 375;
- Skilled Workers Overseas— 35 invitations with a minimum score of 726; and
- International Education Stream— 26 invitations with no score requirement.
Among these, 73 invites were issued to Express Entry candidates.
About Express Entry
Express Entry is one of Canada’s most renowned applicant management systems. At present, it manages three federal high-skilled immigration programs: The Federal Skilled Worker Program, The Federal Skilled Trades Program, and The Canadian Experience Class.
Candidates who apply through the Express Entry system are ranked based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Points are assigned considering certain human-capital factors such as Age, Education, Work Experience, Language Proficiency, Adaptability, and Spousal Sponsorship. Candidates with the highest scores are issued invitations to apply for permanent residence through the frequently held Express Entry draws.
Candidates may receive a permanent residence invitation by directly applying through the Express Entry. This eventually helps skip the PNP process. However, a provincial nomination grants an automatic 600 points boost to the CRS score – effectively guaranteeing a ITA in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
Manitoba Immigration Programs
Immigration programs offered by the Manitoba province are managed under the MPNP. Although Canadian provinces DO NOT have the authority to grant permanent resident status – they do however, help an application by issuing provincial nominations.
Candidates seeking a nomination from Manitoba, need to register an EOI with the MPNP. This puts them in a position to receive a Letter of Advice to Apply (LLA) through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas streams. Manitoba then ranks candidates out of 1,000 points for their human-capital factors (as mentioned above) – as well as their connections to the province.
Both the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas streams are designed to identify, and welcome candidates who can support & sustain the labor market needs of the province.
Candidates need not be living in Manitoba at the time of their application to be eligible.
