Latest Express Entry Draw invited 3,900 applicants to apply for permanent residence visa

With minimum comprehensive ranking score of 445, the Government of Canada has invited 3,900 Express Entry candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence in a latest draw. The draw was conducted on October 3rd.

This round of invitation was the third draw from the Express Entry pool in three weeks. The draw has returned to 3,900 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) again. For all-program invitation rounds, it is the largest number drawn conducted in the year 2018.

The Express Entry system manages the profiles of candidates in Canada’s three main federal economic immigration categories — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Class and the Canadian Experience Class. Each Candidate is ranked according to their Comprehensive Ranking System  (CRS) score, which allots points based on certain personal and non-personal factors such as work experience & skills, educational degrees/qualifications, age and proficiency in English or French (Canada’s two official languages). The highest-ranked candidates in the Express Entry pool are issued an Invitation to Apply called ITA, through regular rounds of invites or commonly known as Express Entry Draws.

Latest Express Entry Draws 2018

The Immigration Refugees Citizenship Canada (IRCC) this year has come up with comparatively huge, standardized draw sizes that have augmented gradually over the course of the year up to the current high of 3,900 ITAs. IRCC established a base of 2,750 ITAs over the first two draws of 2018 and then goes up steadily by increments of 250 or 500 ITAs approximately every eight weeks. Eventually, it reaches 3,900 ITAs on September 5. The only all-program invitation round to deviate from this pattern was the Express Entry draw on September 19, when the draw size was reduced to 3,500. However with the latest draw, one again a pattern of 3,900 ITAs can be expected. This draw’s CRS minimum was 445 which is an increase of four points over the September 19 draw, which had a minimum CRS score of 441.

The number of ITAs are directly associated with Canada’s Multi-Year Immigration Levels Plan. Through this multi-year plan, the Government of Canada has a target of 74,900 new admissions for 2018 and 81,400 for 2019 through the Federal Skilled Worker Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Class and the Canadian Experience Class.

Like every Express Entry draw, this draw too has followed the system of tie-break. The date and time used as a tie-break in this draw was October 2, 2018, at 04:02:11 UTC. This means that all candidates with a CRS score above 445, as well as those candidates with scores of 445 who submitted their profile before this specified date and time, received an ITA in this federal round of invitations.

If you are yet to receive your ITA, then it is time to make some immediate improvements. Express Entry candidates can improve their ranking in a number of ways, including a provincial nomination that results in 600 additional CRS points. This boost in the CRS will then lead to your selection in the subsequent draws. There are other ways too through which your CRS can be improved.
