311 candidates were invited to apply for the Canadian permanent residency selection for the provincial nomination in the latest draw held on 30 March by British Columbia.
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) invited candidates under two distinct immigration categories: Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration.
To select candidates via the BC Express Entry category, a valid profile must be present in the Federal Express Entry pool. Express Entry is Canada’s primary means to obtain permanent Canadian residence for skilled immigrants. Express Entry currently manages applications for the Federal Workers Program, the Federal Trades Program and the Canadian Internship Class – which are part of Canada’s main economic class immigration programs.
A Comprehensive Ranking System – CRS score, dependent on human capital factors like work experience, education, language abilities, and age is awarded to candidates who qualify through the Express Entry.
An extra 600 CRS points would also be granted to all candidates nominated in the subsequent federal Express Entry program through the Express Entry Provincial nominee program of BC and essentially assured an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.
The Skills Immigration Category involves skilled and semi-skilled workers whose professions in the province are in high demand. Both classes require candidates to sign up with the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), which offers qualifying candidates a score dependent on their employment offer, location in B.C., experience, language skill and salary.
In the most recent selection round, the minimum score threshold was between 102 and 105.
