On April 30, Ontario issued invitations to bilingual Express Entry candidates.
The candidates selected will be able to immigrate to Canada through the French-Speaking Skilled Worker (FSSW) stream under Ontario’s Express Entry.
With 307 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) this is the largest FSSW draw of the year so far. This year’s first draw of its sort, conducted on January 9, invited 242 bilingual candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residency in Canada. The program will contact these invited candidates. They will have 45 days to apply for their provincial nomination online.
Since the candidates invited to today’s draw have profiles in the federal Express Entry system, receiving Ontario’s provincial nomination will earn them an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points towards their overall CRS score. This reward will essentially ensure that in a forthcoming federal Express Entry draw they would receive an Invitation to Apply for Canadian permanent residence.
Currently, the Express Entry system manages three federal immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.
Candidates are ranked on human capital factors defined by the government to help them thrive on the Canadian labour market. Factors such as age, work experience, education, and language proficiency in English or French are responsible for the final score.
For the FSSW, candidates shall meet the Canadian Experience Class or Federal Skilled Worker Program eligibility criteria and have a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of at least seven in French and six in English among other requirements.
It is the second Express Entry-linked draw by Ontario in two days’ time. The April 29 draw targeted candidates in 14 skills trades occupations.
