It pledged $200 billion to spend to improve health of people in Canada. We bet you didn’t! That’s why we bring to you this news so you could be aware of it. Now, if a country’s health system is this good, of course you would also want to go there then. Let’s discuss this then.
World Health Day in Canada
In Canada, the World Health Day was celebrated on 7th April, 2023, along with the 75th anniversary of the World Health Organization. Since this year’s World Health theme was “Health for All”, that’s what the Canadian Government also went for.
The theme also focuses on the immediate improvement of the health system of Canada. We know how much Canadians depend on the healthcare system of the country, thus it is quite important that the government makes sure that the system is working properly and working in the best interest of the public.
Investment in the Healthcare
This latest investment of $200 billion will really help in the improvement of healthcare in Canada. The federal government is set to make this huge investment over the span of next 10 years. This funding includes $46.2 billion to provinces and territories, so that they could also improve their healthcare systems and provide better services to Canadians.
What do you think the investments will do? For starters, they would be improving the universal healthcare system which is publicly funded. This is set to ensure timely delivery of family health services, support workers in healthcare, and make sure that it takes much less waiting time for treatments, surgeries, and diagnosis. Apart from that the funds will also help Canadians in being able to access electronic health information.
Another investment of $13 billion over the next 5 years is given to oral health, and $4.4 billion ongoing. These come under the Canadian Dental Care Plan. This plan’s aim is to improve dental care for around 9 million uninsured but eligible Canadians until the end of 2025.
