190 Invitation issued to Express Entry candidates in the latest OINP draw

190 Invitation issued to Express Entry candidates in the latest OINP draw

Ontario issued targeted invitations on April 29 to prospective immigrants who may apply for Ontario’s Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream.

In 14 skilled trades occupations, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) issued invitations to 190 candidates.

The province is addressing the candidates selected today that have earned the Notifications of Interest (NOIs). The OINP identified candidates with work experience in the following National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes:

Structural metal and plate work fabricators and fitters (NOC 7235)

Ironworkers (NOC 7236)

Electricians (NOC 7235)

Electrical power line and cable workers (NOC 7244)

Steamfitters, pipefitters and sprinkler system installers (NOC 7252)

Carpenters (NOC 7271)

Concrete finishers (NOC 7282)

Roofers (NOC 7291)

Contractors and supervisors, heavy equipment operator crews (NOC 7302)

Heavy-duty equipment mechanics (NOC 7312)

Refrigeration and AC mechanics (NOC 7313)

Machine fitters (NOC 7316)

Elevator constructors and mechanics (NOC 7381)

Crane operators (NOC 7371)

“We are aiming to make it easy for businesses to recruit top talent in the skilled trade sector by choosing priority occupations that are on high demand in Ontario,” the OINP said in a media statement.

Candidates had to provide valid profiles in Canada’s Express Entry system in order to be chosen in this draw. If invited, candidates successfully receive an Ontario nomination, an extra 600 points will be awarded towards their total Comprehensive Rankings System – CRS score. This award would essentially guarantee that in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw, they would obtain an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

This was the fourth draw for this year’s OINP. The province had an Entrepreneur Stream draw last week inviting 26 immigrant entrepreneurs to start their business in Ontario. Ontario has so far issued 1,440 invitations to candidates on the Human Capital Priorities Stream in 2020, and 242 invitations to candidates on the French-speaking Skilled Worker Stream.

Ontario is currently awaiting the federal government allocation for OINP 2020. Last year, Ontario was given 6,650 primary candidate spots, with an extra 700 spots as it reached the allocation goal in November 2019. In total, in 2019, the OINP nominated more principal candidates than any province with 7,391 nominations, which is largely the result of Ontario having the highest population in Canada of either province.
