124 Invitations issued to candidates in the latest Manitoba PNP draw

Manitoba’s 91st Expression of Interest (EOI) draw was held on June 4.

A total of 124 candidates for immigration were invited to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residency in Canada. The invites, also known as Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs), were issued by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) to candidates eligible for the following streams:

Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 84

Skilled Workers Overseas: 21

International Education Stream: 19

That brings the total number of LAAs issued this year to 2,154 for immigration candidates. Nine of the 124 LAAs that were issued went to candidates that had profiles in the Express Entry pool.

Express Entry

Currently, the Express Entry oversees applications for three primary federal immigration streams: Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) ranks eligible candidates, which gives them a score based on human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, and language ability. Invitations to Apply (ITAs) are given to the highest scoring candidates by frequent Federal Express Entry draws.

If the nine MPNP candidates which obtained a LAA in the June 4 draw secure the provincial nomination successfully they would receive an additional 600 points to their final CRS score. The additional points effectively ensure the candidate will be selected in a successive Express Entry draw.

Manitoba’s Expression Of Interest System

Candidates need to register an EOI with the MPNP in order to be eligible to qualify for a provincial nomination from Manitoba in all Manitoba Skilled Workers and Overseas Skilled Workers categories.

An EOI is an online profile ranked from a score of 1,000. Points are given, for the education, work experience, Manitoba connections and English or French proficiency of a candidate, among other aspects.

In the most recent draw, candidates invited to Manitoba Stream under the Skilled Workers had a score of 523. The lowest-ranking candidate invited from the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream had a score of 703.

Skilled Workers Overseas And Skilled Workers In Manitoba

The Skilled Workers Overseas Category helps the MPNP to select and nominate eligible foreign workers who will help support and sustain the labour market in Manitoba.

Candidates must have an established connection with Manitoba such as near relatives or friends, prior provincial education or work experience, or an invitation from one of the Strategic Recruitment Initiatives of the MPNP, among other requirements. To be eligible, they do not need to be in Manitoba at the time of application.

Under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative, the candidates invited via the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream were specifically invited by the MPNP. Among other criteria, candidates who are invited through the Manitoba Skilled Workers category must have a full-time, permanent job offer from a Manitoba employer.

International Education

Under the International Education Stream, Manitoba graduates with certain in-demand skills may be invited. This stream comprises three sub-categories: Career Employment Pathway, Graduate Internship Pathway, and International Student Entrepreneur Pilot.

In this draw, the MPNP sent out 19 LAAs to candidates in the International Education Stream.
