The PEI Occupations in Demand stream assists employers in the province hire international workers in job positions which are hard to fill locally. Foreign workers are selected to work in particular occupations if they meet all the eligibility criteria and have received a job offer.
The PEI Occupations in Demand stream helps employers in Prince Edward Island recruit talent from outside the country when they are facing difficulties finding them locally. Occupations in Demand stream is one of the five PEI PNP streams, and is also an employer-driven stream.
An employer-driven stream lets candidates apply to it for a provincial nomination only when they receive a job offer from an employer. Once a candidate becomes a nominee, they can apply for Canada PR.
PEI Occupations in Demand Stream: Eligibility Criteria
Meet all the eligibility criteria to qualify for PEI Occupations in Demand stream for a nomination.
- Their age should be between the ages of 18 and 59 years
- Have completed at least high school
- The applicant must have intentions to live in PEI
- They must demonstrate enough financial resources
- Have required language skills – CLB or NCLC 4
- Have a permanent job offer (must last at least 1 year)
- Job offer must be issued by a PEI employer
- Must have a job offer in one of the following NOC codes:

Other than the applicant, the employer also needs to meet the following requirements:
- Their company must be actively operating for the past 2 years in PEI and facing labour gaps
- Must offer a job that is permanent or will last at least 2 years
- Must demonstrate they have been unable to hire locally
- They need to offer a job in the province
- The applicant must be able to perform the tasks required. They must have the necessary skills, training and experience to carry out the job offered
- The employer must offer a job that doesn’t hinder with existing bargaining unit agreements or employment disputes
- In case the applicant requires an LMIA, the employer must provide it
- Employment terms and conditions need to meet the provincial and federal employment standards
- If the job requires it, the applicant must have license and credentials to perform the tasks
- They must provide settlement support to the applicant and their dependents
- Offer the applicant an employment contract with all the terms and conditions

Step-By-Step Nomination Application Process of Occupations in Demand Stream
Here are the steps by which you can apply for the Occupations in Demand stream for a nomination and then PR.
Step 1 | Meet the PEI Occupations in Demand stream requirements. The applicant and the employer need to meet all requirements. |
Step 2 | After receiving a job offer, the applicant needs to create an Expression of Interest (EOI). An EOI is a demonstration of interest that the applicant wants to settle in Prince Edward Island. |
Step 3 | Once PEI PNP selects the EOI, they will issue an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to the applicant. |
Step 4 | Within 60 days of being invited, the applicant has to apply for a nomination. |
Step 5 | The applicant will complete the nomination application and pay CAN $300 to submit it |
Step 6 | PEI PNP will take the decision upon the application. If it’s approved, the applicant will become a provincial nominee |
Step 7 | Within 3 months of becoming a nominee, they need to apply for permanent residency and submit a completed application to IRCC. |
