PTE stands for Pearson Test of English, Pearson Test of English is an English proficiency test that tests the Reading, Writing, Listening, and Writing components of the test taker. It is a 2-hour-long test, which is an AI-generated test.

IRCC accepts which English language tests?
IRCC accepts IELTS, CELPIP, and PTE for English language proficiency tests. Though PTE is only accepted for Student Direct Stream applications as of now, IRCC will soon start accepting it for permanent residency applications too.
IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. There are two types of IELTS tests: General and Academic.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada accepts the General Training option of IELTS, as it is suitable to test English for everyday conversations.
And, then there’s CELPIP which stands for Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program. Just like IELTS, IRCC also accepts the General Test option of CELPIP.
Which Language Tests are Accepted for Canada PR?
Canada has two official languages: English and French. Hence, immigrants coming to Canada should know both the languages. These tests evaluate language proficiency in abilities regarding reading, writing, listening, and speaking, no matter which language test you are taking.
For the English language proficiency level measurement, IRCC uses Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB). Whereas for French, its Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadien (NCLC).
A candidate needs scores equal to or greater than CLB level 7, and NCLC level 7 if French is your first language, whereas NCLC 5 if French is your second language.
