Language Proficiency To be eligible for the Australia subclass 190 visa, you must be at least competent English

The Australian Department of Home Affairs accepts IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE, OET, and Cambridge Advanced Test (CAE) as English language tests.

To be Competent English you must score:

– Band 6 for listening, reading, speaking and writing in IELTS
– Score 12 in listening, 13 in reading, 21 in writing, and 18 points in speaking in TOEFL iBT
– Get at least 50 each for listening, reading, speaking, and writing in PTE
– Score minimum B for speaking, reading, listening, and writing
– Get at least 169 in each of the four components in CAE

Your language test result is valid for 3 years 
Skills AssessmentYou must get a skills assessment from the relevant authority. Skills assessment checks and verifies that your skills satisfy the standards mandatory to work in an occupation. 

The assessment is valid for 3 years from the date of issue. 
Health RequirementsUndergo health examination by one of the approved physicians to ensure that you meet the health requirements mandatory for the Skilled Nomination Visa.
Character RequirementsTo meet the character requirements you must:

– Have no criminal record
– Have never been convicted of domestic violence

The Australian Department of Home Affairs might require police certificates and a letter of good conduct from an employer to meet the character requirements for the subclass 190 visa.

List of Documents for Subclass 190 Visa

Before applying for the Skilled Nominated visa, gather all the documents. You will need the following paperwork.

  • Current passport that includes your photo, personal details, and date of issue and expiry
  • Birth certificate
  • Marriage certificate – if applicable
  • Degrees, diplomas, certificates and official transcripts
  • A Police clearance certificate – valid for 12 months
  • English language test results – valid for 3 years
  • Reference letters from your previous employers
  • Medical exam report
  • Skills assessment report from a related authority according to your occupation.

How to Apply for the Australia Subclass 190 Visa? – A Step-by-step guide

Phase 1: Creating and Submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI)

If you meet all eligible criteria mentioned above, the very first step is to create an Expression of Interest (EOI) with SkillSelect. An EOI lets the Australian government know that you want to apply for the Skilled Nominated visa. It is valid for 2 years. An EOI creation includes the following steps.

Step 1  Create an account in SkillSelect 

To create an Expression of Interest for the subclass 190 Skilled Nomination visa, create an account in SkillSelect

Step 2 Provide the Required Information

Once you have created an account, begin creating the Expression of Interest for the subclass 190 visa. While creating the EOI, you will need to provide information about your age, education, language proficiency, work experience and history of the last 10 years. 

Step 3 Get an EOI score out of 150 points

Once you have given all the information, the system will give you a score out of 150 points. You must get at least 65 points to be eligible for the Subclass 190 visa. 

Step 4 Submit your EOI

Confirm that all the information is true and correct. Finally, submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) for the Skilled Nominated Visa. 

Phase 2: Get an Invitation to Apply  

After you have submitted the EOI, the Australian Department of Home Affairs will issue an Invitation to Apply. If you are invited, you must apply for the Australia Subclass 190 within 60 days.

  • You will arrive at the ImmiAccount. 
  • Upload all the mandatory documents required for the subclass 190 visa
  • Pay the application fee of $4770 (AUD)
  • Get and keep the Transaction Reference Number (TRN)
  • If applicable, the authorities will inform you to take the health exam and submit the report
  • Give biometrics if applicable

Phase 5: Get the Australia Subclass 190 Skilled Nominated visa

If your visa application is approved, you will get a visa grant number, its starting date, and its conditions. The Australia PR visa is no longer stamped on the passport. It is an electronic visa that is activated upon entry in Australia.
