Canada Nova Scotia PNP Guide for Students, Workers, Entrepreneurs

Canada-Nova-Scotia-PNP

The Nova Scotia PNP is known as Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP). NSNP is one of the Provincial Nominee Programs which selects candidates to move to Nova Scotia. Candidates who have enough experience and skills required by the province can apply for provincial nomination by NSNP so they can apply for permanent residency and move to Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia PNP offers ten different pathways or streams to nominate applicants for PR. These are:

Let’s discuss these in brief below.

1. Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry

The Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry stream is for candidates who are highly skilled and intend to settle in Nova Scotia. To qualify for this stream, you must have at least 1-year work experience gained in Nova Scotia under the TEER category 0, 1, 2 or 3 occupations of NOC (National Occupational Classification).

2. Nova Scotia Labor Market Priorities

The Nova Scotia Labor Market Priorities stream selects candidates who meet the provincial labour market needs and have an Express Entry profile. The applicant must receive a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration to apply for a nomination.

3. Nova Scotia Labor Market Priorities for Physicians

The Nova Scotia Labor Market Priorities stream for Physicians selects general physicians, family physicians and specialist physicians to apply for a nomination. Applicants who are eligible to apply are those who have received an approved job offer from the Nova Scotia Health Authority or IWK Health Centre and received a Letter of Interest from Labour, Skills and Immigration (LSI).

4. Physicians

The Nova Scotia Physicians stream helps Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) and the Izaak Walton Killam Health Centre (IWK) hire family, general and specialist physicians. This stream is specially designed to recruit required talent for the province.

5. Skilled Worker

The NSNP Skilled Worker stream hire international workers and international students who have recently graduated and whose skills are required in Nova Scotia. Since this stream assists the labour market by hiring foreign talent, employers in Nova Scotia can only hire when there is no Canadian permanent resident or citizen available.

6. Occupations in Demand

The Nova Scotia PNP’s Occupations in Demand stream specifically targets the TEER category 3, 4 and 5 occupations. These are highly in-demand occupations and are hence, selected under the Occupations in Demand.

The high labour market demand and eligible occupations are identified by the Labour, Skills and Immigration (LSI).

7. Entrepreneur

The NSNP Entrepreneur stream is for candidates who have experience as business owners/ senior business manager. These candidates must be planning to reside in Nova Scotia. Candidates should buy an existing business or start a new one to actively participate in the day-to-day management of it. NSNP will observe the candidate for a year and only after meeting all the stream requirements, can they request for nomination.

8. International Graduate Entrepreneur

The International Graduate Entrepreneur stream offers an immigration option to those who have recently graduated from the NS Community College or NS University. The stream requires the graduates to already start or buy a business and maintain it for a minimum of 1 year. To apply for nomination, the applicant must first receive an Invitation to Apply.
