  2. BC PNP points calculator 2022 scoring factor

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) allocate a specific number of immigrants to each of Canada’s ten provinces. In order to choose the most competent and deserving individuals from the pool, British Columbia has used a systematic selection procedure called the British Columbia Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). SIRS gives points based on an individual’s personal credentials (known as Core Human Characteristics), which include age, educational qualification, employment experience, English language proficiency, and other wage-related characteristics (known as Economic Factors).

What exactly is the BC PNP points calculator 2022?

Most of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) streams check the applicant’s eligibility through the SIRS score. SIRS helps the BC PNP immigration management system to choose applicants for Provincial Nomination based on their SIRS score. Potential applicants must first create a profile and include information in their SIRS score profile about their job offer, work experience, language competence, and level of education. The BC PNP points calculator 2022 or SIRS operates on an Expression of Interest (EOI) or Invitation to Apply (ITA), with registered candidates assigned a score (out of 200), and the BC government holding periodic draws in which candidates who meet the cut-off score for their category in that draw are invited to apply for a provincial nomination.

1. Economic Factors

The BC PNP is an economic immigration program that is created to satisfy the demands of the labor market and the development of the province’s economic priorities.

The following are important economic factors that encourage the recruitment and retention of workers who will assist British Columbia economically. The economic factors are further divided into 3 sub-categories which are as follows:

1.1 Skill Level of the B.C Job Offer (60 points)

The occupation included in your B.C. job offer will impact how many points you receive for this factor. The National Occupational Classification (NOC) divides your profession into various levels.

NOTE: IRCC will switch to the new NOC 2021 version 1.0. The current NOC skill level will be replaced with Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities (TEER) categories from 16 November 2022.

  • You will receive an additional 10 points if your occupation is identified in the BC High Demand Occupations List based on the BC Labor Market Outlook 2018 Edition.
  • You will receive an additional 10 points if you are actively employed full-time in British Columbia by the employer in the profession listed on your BC PNP registration.

1.2 Wage of the B.C Job Offer (50 points)

Your salary is determined annually as stated in your job offer for registration scoring reasons. Your annual salary will be determined using a maximum of 40 hours per week.

Your yearly salary is determined using the following formulas: Hourly rate x number of weeks worked (maximum of 40 or 60 for long-haul truck drivers) x 52 weeks in a year

2. Human Capital Factors

The skills, experience, education, and competencies that people bring to the economy of British Columbia are known as human capital factors. These elements aid in the province’s successful settlement and integration. The human capital factors are further divided into 3 sub-categories which are as follows:

2.1Directly-Related Work Experience (25 points)

Depending on whether you have a professional experience in Canada or overseas, this category awards you SIRS’ points. The BC PNP points calculator 2022 will give you more points with the more experience you have. Your years of full-time and part-time work experience that is directly related to the position you have been given in British Columbia will count towards your score. Your most recent ten years of job experience must be closely connected. You will be given credit for 50% of the time spent working if it was part-time.
